In my art, I try to reflect the world I see around me, be it in images or as a concept through an installation. Over the past fifty years I have had an abiding interest in current affairs and social justice, which informs my art, influencing my choice of image or concept as well as my technique or approach.
Over the years, I have initiated ideas through my practice of sketching in situ, mainly in urban landscapes, reflecting life in front of me. My style is evolving with a current interest appropriating and using recognisable visual images and objects in a different context, inviting the viewer to consider an issue or topic from a different perspective.
My approach involves using a familiar image or object but to suggest a different reality attached to it, to indicate it can be viewed in a different way. I am raising questions about representation and how it can be used in a different form.
